We are going to be 100 Years Old and we are looking GOOD! Our centennial celebration is being developed by National and we need your help to make it a success. We want every Post to participate.
It’s easy. The American Legion was established in 1919 as a means of helping veterans, widows and orphans after WWI. That is still our main focus.
In 2019 we are officially 100 years old, so we have a little more than 4 years to make our celebration blossom. We want to continue to honor our history and keep our legacy moving into the future. I am asking each Post in Colorado to set up a small committee and put together your history. Go online to The American Legion Centennial Celebration, click on the topic Share Your Post History (on the left side of the screen). Other selections contain tools and information about setting up your Post on the site.
No your Post doesn’t need to be 100 years old to participate. We want every Post to share their history. Please include photos (the more the better), include old photos, new photos, legionnaires, programs, services and awards, everything about your post.
This is a GREAT time to pat your post on the back for a job well done. Encourage every legionnaire to visit the site, read the histories and develop a better understanding of The American Legion and a true appreciation for all the blood, sweat and tears in establishing, rejuvenating and maintaining our Colorado Posts. Leave a trail of our journey from 1919 until now and veterans will be reading about us when we are 200 years old.
Be PROUD of being a Legionnaire. We don’t need a face lift, we are beautiful as we are, because we “Believe in Patriotism, we Believe in helping our veterans, our kids and our communities. Encourage veterans to learn about The American Legion, they will want to join and we can all help make a difference.
